The students' life at leisure-time is versatile and interesting.
There are all kinds of opportunities for the students to develop their talents and creative drives. A large modern auditorium hosts 640 spectators, it is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and light facilities. There are special premises for different amateur groups' rehearsals.
Quite a number of such interesting groups enjoy great popularity with the students of the university.
Thus, the Cantus Juventae Choir has a 15-year history of original work and success - both in Belarus and abroad. The repertoire includes folk and country music, spirituals, contemporary music composed by world renowned musicians from Belarus, Russia and many other countries, jazz music and a lot more. The Choir releases its own CDs and travels to different countries in Europe on musical tours.
There are a number of dance studios-the Vernitsa folk dance company, a variety dance show, a Latin American dance studio, a break-dance group.
For many years the popular French Theatre has performed in the French language. It participated in many festivals in France and Belgium, where it won quite a number of prizes. The "Come On!" theatre of Humour permanently attracts full houses, it is a regular participant of many city concerts and festivities. Amateurs of humour and joking have organised two university Clubs for the "Cheerful and Sharp-Witted". Today, all these companies have over 250 constant members.
Those interested in extra-curricular activities and eager to develop their leader's abilities are welcome to be engaged in such organisations as the local unit of the Belarusian Youth Union, the English Club or the Student Parliament at the School of German.
Annually the University conducts a great deal of mass shows and festivities, some of them have become traditional - student inauguration ceremony, the Christmas Party, International Festival of students' companies, the Francophonie Days of French poetry and singing, the Spanish Cafe party and many others. Individual concerts are performed by separate amateur teams of students throughout the academic year.
The University, together with the City Hall, is an organiser of the Premier- League of the Clubs for the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted in Minsk.
The University Student Club closely co-operates with similar bodies in other educational institutions and organizes joint meetings and amateur performances.
The phychological councelling services of the university conduct individual testing and consulting for those who seek professional help in improving their personal qualities and skills in organizing and streamlining their life and work. The service also conducts sociology research and opinion polls.
The student dormitories offer good conditions for leisure-time cultural and sporting events. The students residing there have special relaxation rooms, individual work rooms, sporting rooms with the necessary facilities. Each dormitory has an elected student council responsible for the social and cultural life of its residents.
