Post-Graduate Course (PHD)

Citizens of the Republic of Belarus and other states, who have adequate education and a scientific degree, have the right to take a post-graduate course at Minsk State Linguistic University. Foreign citizens can take the post-graduate course in accordance with intergovernmental agreements, agreements concluded by MSLU with organisations, or contracts concluded by MSLU and foreign citizens.

MSLU post-graduate course provides a higher scientific qualification in the following subjects:
10.02.04 - Germanic Languages (English, German);
10.02.05 - Romance Languages (French, Spanish);
10.02.21 - Applied and Computational Linguistics;
10.02.19 - Theory of Language;
10.01.03 - Foreign Literature (English, German, French, Spanish);
13.00.01 - General Pedagogie, History of Pedagogie and Education;
13.00.02 -Theory and Methodology of Foreign Languages Teaching;
19.00.07 - Pedagogical Psychology.

Applicants with higher education having inclination to scientific research can be admitted to the post-graduate course on a full-time or part-time basis.
The term of studies at the post-graduate course on a full-time basis is three years, or four years, when a post-graduate student combines studies and work.
Documents are submitted from 01.06 to 30.06. The Application Commission admits university graduates with a high level academic excellence if recommended by the University Council, M.A. degree's graduates and people with work experience to take entrance examinations.

Entrants take an examination in their speciality, a foreign language and philosophy within the scope of the existing curricula for higher educational establishments. An examination in speciality precedes examinations in other subjects. Entrance examinations are not permitted to be retaken. Eaminations are held from 01.10 to 30.10.
Applicants who passed their candidate's examinations in full or partially are granted the right not to take the corresponding entrance examinations and enjoy the privilege to be edmitted according to the results on a competitive basis.

An entrant should submit an application in the rector's name with the following documents enclosed:
-A personal data and work experience registration form with a photo (4 by 6 cm), sealed in the personnel department of an organization to send an applicant to study;
-CV;
-A copy of the diploma and the grade list enclosed with it;
-A 2.2 form confirming candidate examinations that have been passed;
-A list of published research works; in their absence - a review on the speciality (the theme is to be agreed upon with a would be scientific supervisor);
-An extract from the University (Department) Council session minutes for the people recommended to study at the post-graduate course following their graduation from a higher educational establishment;
- An extract from a job terification log (for those who are going to study by correspondence).

Entrants are interviewed by highly qualified specialists who inform the Application commission about the results of the interview and would be scientific supervisors to instruct post-graduate students in the process of writing their candidate theses.
The decision on admission is taken by the application commission with respect to the results of the interview taken by the appointed specialists, and also assessment of published scientific works or a scientific review submitted.

On the grounds of the results at the entrance examinations and taking into account the availability of vacancies, the entrance commission makes a decision about the admissionnts who passed their examinations successfully on a competitive basis.
