Two Boards on the Doctoral Dissertation Defence in MSLU.

The D 02.22.01 on the defence of theses submitted for the Doctor of Philology's Degree was sanctioned by order of the Belarusian Higher Attestation Commission of May 16, 1995 on the basis of the formerly functioning D 056.01.01 Council. It is entitled to admit theses to defence on the following 5 specialities:
10.02.04 - Germanic languages (in philology), 10.02.05 - Romance languages (in philology), 10.02.19 - general linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics (in philology), 10.02.20 - comparative and historical, typological and comparative linguistics, theory of translation (in philology), 10.02.21 - applied and mathematical linguistics (in philology).
14 Doctors Science in Philology and 1 Candidate of Philology Sciences are members of the D 02.22.21 Council on the Defence of Theses.

The C 02.22.01 Council on the defence of theses submitted for the Candidate of Pedagogics' Degree was sanctioned by order of the Belarusian Higher Attestation Commission of November 10, 1995 on the basis of the formerly functioning C 056.06.02 Council. It admits theses to defence on the speciality:
13.00.02 - theory and methods of training and education (foreign languages)
13.00.02 - theory and methods of training and education ( Russian as a foreign language)

The C 02.22.01 Council includes 12 members, 6 with a Doctor's Degree, and 6 with a Candidate's Degree.

Stage 1 of the preliminary examination of the theses submitted to the D 02.22.01 and C 02.22.01 Councils is conducted in the units where the theses have been fulfilled, in the relevant departments and divisions, in compliance with Point 1 of the Statute on the Conferment of scientific degrees and awarding of an academic status.

Stage 2 of the preliminary examination of the theses is made in the corresponding scientific methodological societies of the university, in compliance with points 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of the Statute on the Council on the Defence of Theses. The MSLU hosts 7 societies of this type.
